Karen A (Cheslock) Eckart

Karen A. (Cheslock) Eckart, 66, of Berwick, passed away on March 21, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Born in Hazleton on December 26, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Cheslock and Frank J. Cheslock. She graduated from Berwick Area High School in 1975.

Throughout the years, she served as a customer service representative and a Press Enterprise newspaper carrier, but was most proud of her longtime employment with the Berwick Hospital Center.

Karen found joy in sharing stories with her family and friends and often attended events in the community. She loved her cats and lived for sunshine, the beach, and warm weather. Additionally, she enjoyed caring for her plants, flowers, and birds, finding comfort and happiness in nurturing them. Karen was also known for her cooking, serving up her well-liked recipes at family gatherings.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Dean G. Eckart, Jr., and a sister, Lynn Marie Cheslock.

She is survived by three sons: Brent M. Eckart and spouse Ryan F. Elmy, Brian A. Eckart and wife Julianna K., and Gary J. Eckart. She is also survived by a brother: Larry J. Cheslock, wife Kristin and niece Sarah, along with a granddaughter: Kylie Ann Eckart.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 11:00 am at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 Market St., Berwick with Pastor Chris Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
